How do you set up the most anticipated hip-hop album of 2009? Well, if you’re Eminem you simply set a new record for highest first week download sales in the United States. Em debuted his comeback anthem, “Crack A Bottle,” at the turn of the year. It has since gone on to shift a cool 418,000 digital sales, thus earning the coveted No.1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. That upstages the record previously set by Rihanna and T.I, who sold 335,000 digital copies of “Live Your Life.” This is even more impressive considering that “Crack A Bottle” had no video and very little promotion from Interscope Records.
Swizz said he’s worked on five songs with Eminem, including one featuring both Dr. Dre and 50 Cent. “I don’t know the title yet, but it’s classic,” he said. “It’s sounding big.”
Another song Swizz worked on with Em is a track they’re referring to as a “Stan Part 2.” “You know how ‘Stan’ … was the big [song]?” Swizz asked, referring to the obsessed-fan track which sampled Dido’s “Thank You.” “So I worked on part 2, and I think it was, like, totally genius.”
Swizz said that while Eminem has apparently been away from the mic for a long time, he’s in good form on Relapse. which, Em said on “TRL,” will be out next year, in “probably January, February.”
Since Em recently decided to come out of the bat cave, this one’s for him and the generation of angry teenagers who burnt their scalps trying to bleach their hair blond with peroxide..
