First and foremost thanks for chopping it up with me and congrats on the recent Juno nomination.. Which award are you nominated for and how’d it feel when you got word of the nomination?

The award was for rap recording of the year. It’s honestly a great feeling. It was a lot of hard work and it’s different for somebody who sees it and the actual person who’s doin’ it. So when you get the word that you been nominated for a Juno after so many years of doin this, it kinda puts all the hard work into perspective, you know what I mean?

Definitely.. You think the Grammy’s are next for you?

Hopefully man.. You know the Grammy’s has that award for the international song of the year right? There would be nothing wrong with winning a Grammy for that. Hopefully one day it would be for album of the year but winning a trophy for the international song of the year wouldn’t be so bad.

That would be big for you.. Now you recently released a video for your single “Big Man Things” featuring reggae artist Trinity Chris.. Can you tell me how that track came together?

Well it first started with the beat. A lot of my tracks are inspired by the beat. Boy Wonder sent me the beat and when I heard it, it just had that epic sound to it. The first thing that came to my head was that I should just have a normal rapper featured, but eventually I decided to go to left field with it and chose to put a reggae artist on the track. So my boy Specs who was working with this artist Trinity Chris, who’s work I really respect, passed him the beat, Trinity heard it, went in, one take and just did it.. The rest is history!
