With his latest club banger Go Crazy featuring Fatman Scoop & Clinton Sparks currently generating a nice buzz throughout the U.S., the young emcee out of Worcester, Massachusetts is destined to turn more heads with the release of his new project “The Heartbreak Kid” produced by J. Cardim in its entirety. We got a chance to chop it up the Dice Music artist to discuss the new single, his new album & much more. HitHipHop: Who is Ariez Onasis and how did you come up with your name?

Ariez Onasis: Ariez Onasis is obviously my performance name. It actually comes from a famous Greek shipping heir, name Aristotle Onassis. You know he was a real playboy billionaire type and I figured I just take the name. It’s actually a little deeper he was born on my brother’s birthday and passed on mine. So, I felt like the second coming was me and I just had to put good use to that name. So, I just threw the Ariez on instead of Aristotle and here you have it.

Being on Dice Music Group and having a co-sign from Just Blaze has gotten you a lot attention. What do think drew them in?

I think the initial Just Blaze co-sign and J. Cardim backing me up and doing the all the production on my upcoming project is definitely something that got people to check for me. I believe, I think my voice. I got a real distinct voice so I feel like when they finally hear the music it’s one of those either “hate it” or “love it.” It seems more often than not they’re loving it, so you know I try to keep my material real original and stuff that I like. I got a broad taste in music I listen to a lot of kinds of genres and different styles. I try to incorporate everything, you know mix some fresh new s**t. I think the people’s response is pretty good. So far you know we playing it by ear as of right now.

Since you mentioned that you have a broad taste in music who are your top 5 musical influences?

I definitely have to put Pac very high up on that list. I use to listen to Pac real heavy when I was a youngster. I was such a big fan of him, just music wise and personality wise. I followed up on everything Tupac, that took a lot of inspiration from that coming up and watching the game. Mainly I listen to Hip Hop, Jay, Em, Nas. Another big influence I have is I’m a really big fan of Alicia Keys; she makes a lot of real organic from the soul music. I know it’s probably crazy some people hearing me say Alicia Keys, my music and hers are very different. I get a lot of inspiration from other genres; you know what I try to step outside the box. Listening to different genres helps me out with that.

There’s nothing wrong with being eclectic. Your rhymes are very swift and yet catapulting to anyone who dares to say you aren’t the best. Where does this energy come from?

The energy is just the hunger of wanting to be heard and wanting to be the best at what I do. I’m actually a real laid back guy; I smoke a whole lot of weed on a day to day basis. I’m feeling like I got the product; I just want the world to hear it and I guess that’s where the energy comes from.

What was the creative process like for the record “Go Crazy”?

That one was crazy, I was in the studio my man Art Beatz brought the track through. He told me the idea, told me he wanted to have Clinton Sparks on it and Fat Man Scoop. I was in there, actually two in the morning. I was in there already going crazy, you know what I mean. (Laughs) He put the beat on loop, I just threw the verses on a week later, it came back through with Fat Man Scoop and Clinton Sparks on the record. We dotted the “I’s” and crossed the “T’s” and made that happen. Before you know it man, we got a lot of people going crazy.

Now we’ve seen your cypher with Termanology, Sha Stimuli and some of your Dice Music fam, tell us, if you were involved in a freestyle battle and could choose any rapper as your teammate, who would you want on your team?

Definitely, no brainer would be Eminem, that boy is serious when it comes to the battle rhymes and the ciphers. Another person I think that would be good to have on your team is Joe Budden. I think Joe Budden is real nice with the buzz, especially the battle rhymes, yeah definitely them two. If I could add a third to that, my man Tuge he’s another artist off of Dice Music. Man that boy is one of the nicest MC’s out of anywhere I have heard in the past. I can’t even tell you how many years, that boy is serious man!

We like what we’ve heard so far, hope to hear more soon. Now to wrap things up what can we expect from Ariez Onasis in 2011?

2011 you can expect a whole lot of monumental things from me. From the “Heart Break Kid” project, produced completely by J. Cardim. I got my mixtape “Jack Move” coming out that’s hosted and mixed by DJ Jack Frost & DJ E Dubble. I’m just dropping mad material this year 2011, I feel like there’s no time to keep in the stash no more. People want to hear it, I want y’all to hear it. We going to take it to the top, 2011 there is no stopping.
