A couple weeks back, HitHipHop got the chance to speak with up and coming artist Lo Keys from Fayetteville, NC. One may think of a certain Hip Hop artist J. Cole who has already made a name for himself when you hear about the ‘ville. It seems as though they both have a common ground for putting on for their city, making their own lane and most importantly putting out good music. After the jump, check out the interview as he discusses his new project “Green Hornet”, giving back to the community, influences & more.
15 years ago yesterday, hip hop lost one of its brightest stars, when Tupac Amaru Shakur was shot to death in Las Vegas. Hithiphop.com got a chance to speak to rising Flint, Michigan rapper Jon Connor about how he feels Pac has influenced the game & himself as a artist.
Sometimes I hear people say that 2Pac wasn’t a great “lyricist”. I challenge anyone to say that after listening to his “Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z” album. Pac was that nigga period. What I learned from Pac, was that through hip hop, we as artist are the new Malcolm & Martin’s. We speak to the masses and can have a huge impact on people. We can give them information that kids wont get from school and adults dont get from the news. 2Pac had a one of a kind passion that came out in his music just an undeniable realness that you felt. What 2Pac had can never be duplicated.
Look out for Jon Connor’s “Vinnie Chase: Season 2″ mixtape coming soon. RIP 2PAC!
It’s not my biggest battle yet, I’m not going to do it. There’s so many talented emcees coming up and you know I like to support the movement. I like to be able to be a spectator, I love getting in the ring. If there’s a situation or an opponent or platform that makes sense then I’m always ready to jump back in the ring. - Iron Solomon
Along with the mp3 of Iron Solomon’s recent freestyle on Shade45 with Lord Sear & Rude Jude, comes our exclusive interview with the battle rapper/emcee where we discussed his new album, future battles, “yo mama” jokes, Jin & more. Check that out after the jump & lookout for his upcoming project “Monster” coming this fall!
